Having made long term work in Blackpool and Brighton my interest in photographing people having a seaside holiday has now taken me on many excursions to the dynamic Spanish resort of Benidorm. This is the first time these pictures have been displayed as a group. The project is planned for completion in 2026 with a book, JJ Waller's Benidorm. Why Benidorm? I love going there but it also fits well into the story of the British holiday experience with the introduction of cheap charter flights in the sixties and beyond.

JJ Waller is a British photographer and Publisher. He has sold in excess of 15000 photography books from his ten titles. "My books aren't especially aimed at the photography market or designed for the coffee table, they are more likely to be found in peoples 'smaller rooms' and I can't think of a better accolade." His most recent 2024 exhibition was a body of work made during Lockdown in which he made over 100 portraits of families and individuals looking out from the windows of their homes. The pictures in the show and the corresponding book Lockdown Informal Portraits were edited by photographer Martin Parr also a Benidorm devotee.
