We are not a number
Nicholas Bowman
In times of conflict the media speaks of the numbers of killed and injured, and the protests about conflict are measured by the numbers of people involved. But the dead and injured are individual human beings, and in the same way the protests are made up of thousands of individuals - each one different - they have look different, they think differently, they have different histories and futures. But they are united - they share common ground with each other momentarily: protestors with protestors, soldiers with civilians, combatants with protestors. Connections are made across borders creating a unity of thought and belief
Artist biography
Common themes that I like to explore include motion and time, and I am passionate that all images must tell a story.
I am Chair of the City of London & Cripplegate Photographic Society and this year have had a solo exhibition of my ‘Four seasons with the longhorn cattle of Epping Forest’ photographs at the Epping Forest Visitor Centre. Previously my photographs have been exhibited at the Barbican in London, the Glasgow Gallery of Photography and Lauderdale House. I have had honourable mentions in the Minimalist Awards, and the Monochrome Awards. In addition to creating my own images I am an EAF accredited photographic competition judge.
