FOOD = ART

Xavi Buendia

FOOD = ART marks the debut of Xavi's Photo Fringe exhibition, where everyday food items transform into extraordinary objects. The collection of outtakes from his work as a food photographer takes daily ingredients into poignant art pieces. Each image encourages the viewer to question the origin, use, sustainability, and future of the foods we often take for granted. In a time where human consumption pushes these common elements towards rarity, Xavi’s work challenges us to reflect on our relationship with what nourishes us, turning a simple glance into a profound inquiry.

Artist biography

Xavi, an artist and photographer from Mexico City, has called Brighton home since 2009. Renowned as a premier photographer within the local food scene, his work has earned multiple awards and widespread acclaim. In recent years, Xavi has shifted his focus to personal projects that look into the depths of the human potential, physically, intellectually and emotionally. Through these explorations, he also navigates the complexities of his identity as a foreigner and offers a unique perspective on the world, shaped by his rich tapestry of personal experiences.
